FAMILY: Mom - Beverly Stepfather - Tony Older brother - Eric Younger Sister - Kailey Father - Lee (deceased) HOBBIES: Hunting, Fishing, Wakeboarding, & Snowboarding HEROES: Jerome Davis, JW Hart, Lane Frost FAVORITE RIDE: Coffee Time (Paradise Farms) at Baton Rouge, LA for 89 points TRAVEL PARTNERS: JB Mauney, LJ Jenkins SPONSORS: Enterprise Rent -A- Car When Brian was three years old his Grandpa Jimmy bought him a goat, Bingo, every time Brian got the chance he would jump on Bingo and ride him all around the farm pretending he was a bull. Brian even told his Kindergarten teacher he was going to quit kindergarten to become a bull rider. Brian (45 lbs.) got on his first bull (900 lbs.) when he was 8 years old. He rode for almost five seconds then was jerked down and busted his stitches open from a previous injury occurring the week before from playing Power Rangers on the bunk beds with his brother Eric. From that point on Brian was hooked. At the age of 13 Brian’s Cousin Jeff and Step-Dad Tony talked his mom into letting him get on a bull at Jerome Davis’s arena during a junior rodeo. Although Brian loved his new hobby his mom was not so fond of it. She thought it was too dangerous and didn’t want him riding. This would not keep Brian from his passion of bull riding. He would sneak over to Jerome’s house and get on all his calves and practice bulls. This worked for a while until his mom found out and gave Jerome a phone call. Brian finally was able to talk his mom into letting him ride if she and her husband Tony were with him. They took him to junior rodeos for about three years and then on to High School Rodeos. Brian went to Jerome’s bull riding schools and stayed on the bucking barrel constantly working on his techniques. He would end up winning the North Carolina State High School championship two of the three years he competed. At a very young age he had already won all the local rodeo and bull riding association championships. A few days before Brian turned 18 on June 25, 2005 he & Jerome called the PBR office to get a membership faxed over. They knew it would be tough for him to make the finals or to have a chance for rookie because it was so late in the season but Jerome told him he really believed he could make the finals as good as he rode. Although Brian started placing in the Challenger Tours right away he never was able to ride in a Built Ford Tough event. He had won so much money in the Challenger Series it put him as the first alternate going into the PBR finals. One week before the finals Brian received a phone call from the PBR office informing him Brian Courson had broke his leg in the practice pen. This secured him a spot in the finals. Brian went on to have a great finals putting him in the BFTS for 2006. He won his first event at Billings, MT with a purse over $53,000.00. Brian has remained in the top ten throughout the 2006 season.
